If you are like me, you loved the first season of Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead and can’t wait for season 2. If that is the case then I have some information that will probably make you very happy, particularly due to all of your emotional investment in the characters. During a recent interview with Redbull UK, which proved most fruitful, Telltale’s CEO and co-founder, Dan Connors, dropped a bombshell that should make most fans very happy. When asked if they were looking to try and bring our decisions over from the first season he confirmed that they were considering doing just that.
Right now we are just starting to form the concept for season two. This all remains to be seen but we are definitely figuring out how to carry the saves over.
Personally, I have mixed emotions about this. One the one hand, if it can be done well and without issue then of course I would absolutely love to carry over my save from last season. On the other hand, file importing is tricky and has proved a tricky thing even for the most skilled developers. Heck, Telltale even had trouble bringing over their own save files for a while. So if they have a high level of confidence that they could do easily then I say go for it, but if not then I’d just much rather start from scratch than have the game be brought down by such a huge flaw. Honestly, I’d take one of those Mass Effect 2 type decision sequences that wraps up all the decisions from last season and just lets me reselect them, it’s not perfect, but it would pretty much get you back to the same place story wise. They need to clear up which way they plan to do it early on therefore fans can measure their expectations.
But that’s just me, how do you all feel about your saves transferring over to the second season? Do you even care? Is it essential to you for the experience? In any case, hit up our comment section and let us know how you feel.
