Last year was more than successful for the heads at Ubisoft, with heaps of big titles making it to market. It looks like 2013 will also be a big year for the developer, not for games but films it seems, with the outfit looking to pitch a film based on the Ghost Recon franchise.
According to a report in the LA Times, Jean-Julien Baronnet, the chief executive of Ubisoft Motion Pictures is putting together a “pitch to get a movie based on the Ghost Recon games about a special operations military squad.”
Last year also brought news that actor Michael Fassbender will take on the main role in the Assassin’s Creed film adaptation and fellow actor Tom Hardy playing Sam Fisher in the Splinter Cell feature film.
Ubisoft previously produced and released a 23-minute long short-movie based on Ghost Recon series, which was well received by fans of the game. The short film’s main purpose was of course to promote the release of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Who will star and how the film will play out is anyone’s guess at this point, but stay tuned for details if they emerge.
