Switch off for a day!

The shooting tragedy that hit Connecticut recently has taken the world’s media by storm, with 26 people – 20 whom were children – losing their lives at the Sandy Hook elementary school on Friday, December 14, 2012.

In light of the awful event, a Facebook group has been created by GamerFitNation inviting gamers to stage a day of ceasefire for all online shooters as a sign of respect.

The Facebook group which can be found here asks gamers to turn off their shooters from 21 December at 00:00 until 22 December at 00:00 EST.

We’re simply making a statement that us  Gamers are not going to sit back and ignore the lives that were lost. Instead we will embrace the families with our love and support. So if you are an owner of a website I ask that you post to your readers that you will join us in our “DAY OF CEASE FIRE FOR ONLINE SHOOTERS” I ask you all to please share and I thank you for reading. This starts Thursday night, Friday morning at 12am and will end Friday night, Saturday morning at 12am.

If you wish to help spread the word, you can use the hashtag #OSCeaseFire on all social network sites. This is a great way to show support and sure everyone will get involved on the day, maybe even go outside?

Will you cease fire for one day? Let us know in the comment section below or on our Facebook page.

When not fighting crime, I dabble in the art of online journalism. Alright, maybe it's not as exciting as headbutting everyday felons like a modern Bruce Wayne, but I need something that doesn't involve bludgeoning something. Get my kicks playing on a fat 80gb PS3, really need an upgrade......and a shave.
