The Spike Video Game Awards was always going to kick up some surprises, one in particular however will have you shaking in your boots it’s so damn freaky. The first world premiere to kick off the event was ‘The Phantom Pain’, a mysterious title in development at Moby Dick Studios.
The trailer was teased as 100% actual gameplay and looks downright stunning, showing an army vet lying on a hospital bed and awakening to the words “You’ve been in a coma for quite some time,” and zooms to the prosthetic arm where once was his left limb.
The weirdness doesn’t stop there however, as the vet and an unknown ally make their way down the corridors of the hospital, they encounter mercenary’s exterminating the building’s population with zero remorse.
There seems to be a supernatural feel to the game and I’m pretty sure that one of the character’s is voiced by Kiefer Sutherland (24, The Lost Boys). Considering the appearance of the character and how everything looks similar to what the FOX Engine can muster, I think this is somehow related to Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes – we will just have to wait and see.
As soon as we have the trailer, it will be posted below. In the meantime, leave your thoughts in the comment section as always.
