The more we hear about next year’s Grand Theft Auto V, the more we are wishing the months away, so we can get to planning heists on the mean streets of Los Santos. If we face a long wait to play the game on console however, spare a thought for PC only gamers, who will probably have to wait until the end of 2013 for their version, if in fact there is a port at all.
Traditionally Rockstar games have made the transition to home computers a few months after hitting the consoles, with all of the GTA games, Bully and LA Noire amongst other titles making the move, but Red Dead Redemption remained console only. If a PC version of GTA V is made, then you can expect greater graphical fidelity, mod support and custom soundtracks if previous releases are taken into account.
So far however, Rockstar has said they are concentrating on the PS3 and Xbox versions of the game, though they haven’t ruled out releases on other platforms. Those vague words aren’t enough for some PC gamers however, who have taken to starting up an online petition to ensure Rockstar is aware of the demand for a home computer version of the game. So far the petition has over 100,000 digital signatures, so we wait with bated breath to see if it affects any announcement the developer may make regarding a PC port.
