We are literally days away from the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops II and many will be preparing for their journey to many of the retailers holding midnight release launches for the title. While towns and cities around the United Kingdom will host your everyday “come in, get your game and leave” events, HMV’s Oxford Street branch in London will be pulling out all the stops for the futuristic shooter, with developer signings, multiplayer tournaments and much much more.
The festivities will kick off on Monday, November 12 at 10pm, with the game available to buy on the stroke of midnight. HMV has predicted over 1,000 fans to attend the event, so get there early. Before you do pick up your copy of Black Ops II why not slay noobs in a multiplayer tournament to win prizes, get your copy signed by developers who traveled to the launch and a “Zombie bus stop featuring exciting props from the game as well as an in store Zombie invasion”.
Round that off with the “collectible goody bags” all attendees will take home, it doesn’t sound like a bad way to spend a Monday night. HMV’s category manager for games Andy Pinder certainly thinks so, with him saying, “This is undoubtedly the games’ release of the year, which is great news not just for fans but retailers alike as we head into Christmas.”
With copies of Black Ops II already being sold on retail sites before its official release, Activision will be happy to put the whole fiasco behind them and move on to post-launch duties and this event will be the perfect send off.
