Megaupload Will Relaunch On Anniversary Of Kim Dotcom’s Mansion Raid
So nobody ever said that alleged online piracy kingpin Kim Dotcom didn’t have a flair for the ironic. The highly controversial owner of file sharing site Megaupload was arrested and charged with racketeering, copyright infringement and money laundering earlier this year. Not one to be stopped, he has announced that he will launch a brand new version of Megaupload. But that’s not the fun part, Dotcom will relaunch the new site a year to the day his police raided his mansion, January 20th.
According to Dotcom, the new site will feature enhanced security measures to ensure the government cannot shutdown the service again, including an “Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm.” So there you have it folks, in just a few short months, Megaupload will return and in the words of Dotcom “turn this world upside down”. Whether that will happen remains to be seen but no matter how it actually works out it should be interesting to watch unfold.
