The Walking Dead Shooter Officially Named ‘Survival Instinct’
It’s common knowledge that AMC’s series The Walking Dead is extremely popular among zombie fans, with millions of viewers tuning in every week for another helping of gore and inappropriate zombie noises. While Telltale’s episodic Walking Dead game has its own following, publisher Activision is developing a first-person version of the series and announced the game’s official name as ’The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct’ and will be based more on the TV show setting rather than the comic book route developer Telltale took.
The game will be developed by Terminal Reality and will pick up before the events of the TV show, following brothers Daryl and Merle Dixon on their journey to supposed safety in Atlanta, taking down a few zombies in gory fashion en-route.
Activision released a description of the game, the blurb read:
A do-whatever-you-need-to-survive first-person action game that brings the deep, character-driven world of AMC’s Emmy Award-winning TV series onto console gaming systems and the PC in a frightening, new way. The game puts players in the role of the mysterious, crossbow-wielding survivor Daryl Dixon, alongside his overbearing brother Merle, on a haunting, unforgiving quest across the Georgia countryside to reach the supposed safety of Atlanta.
It will be interesting to see The Walking Dead world from a complete first-person perspective and one with closer ties to the actual AMC show. Also having the game set before the events of the TV-show keeps us guessing, very exciting to see what Terminal Reality throws our way.
