We got to play the God of War: Ascension multiplayer at Gamescom, and came away very impressed, finding it to be a mixture of traditional God of War brutality and Power Stone retro chaos. Apparently since then the team has been working flat-out on the game and will be able to bring PS Plus users an early multiplayer beta this Winter.
The PlayStation official blog brought this news, as well as detailing a little more about how the multiplayer system will work. In effect players will align themselves with one of four gods (I’m guessing Zeus, Hades, Ares and Poseidon) and their choice of god will furnish them with particular weapons and skills. The first god on offer in the beta will be Zeus, and the team at Sony Santa Monica has also brought us a new trailer showing off his powers.
In addition to these new reveals, the blog also explains how non-plus users can take advantage of the multiplayer beta, by playing through an interactive graphic novel on the game’s official website. Incorporating social elements, The Rise of the Warrior is another rung on the hype ladder that will lead to the games release on March 12th. Like most of you out there I’m sure – I cant wait.
