One of the most divisive XBOX 360 games of recent years has been confirmed to be heading to PS3 after months of rumors. Deadly Premonition was picked up as a western XBOX exclusive back in 2010 (it was released on PlayStation in Japan as Red Seeds Profile) but according the official PlayStation blog it will be hitting the Sony platform as a directors cut edition in 2013.
If you have never heard of Deadly Premonition then you owe it to yourself to check some videos out on YouTube. Essentially a mystery-based action game with driving, something like a weirder Alan Wake, it received review scores ranging from 1 to 10, splitting gamers and critics alike who were unsure whether the game was absolutely shocking or a work of genius.
A lot of the criticism was aimed at the almost unworkable controls, and the shoddy graphics, both of which have allegedly been cleaned up for this new release. The game’s story was however generally lauded for its unusual and absolutely bonkers premise – effectively you are an FBI agent with an unhealthy interest in 80’s cinema with an imaginary friend that nobody can see or you have a serious schizophrenic disorder. Either way you will need all the help you can muster to investigate the murder of a young girl in a sleepy town, in a plot ‘inspired’ heavily by Twin Peaks.
In addition to the updated graphics and controls mentioned above, a brand new scenario and DLC is also promised to make the game finally live up to its potentially. Look out for this one amongst all the blockbusters heading our way next year.
