Resident Evil 6 Day-One Patch Makes PSN Copies Unplayable
If you’re one of the many people who threw on your favorite scarf and jacket and made the trip to your local gaming retailer to pick up Resident Evil 6 in disk form, then you are probably enjoying the game right now. If you decided to stay home in front of the fire and download the game from the PlayStation Store, then you might be a little bit frustrated right now with a day-one patch that stops the game from loading – in turn making it unplayable.
While gamers playing with a disc copy receive no problem while loading the game, the downloaded version prompts an error message and no gaming fun time for zombie fans. For now Capcom have revealed a workaround while they work on a imminent fix which they told IGN,
The temporary fix to ensure people can enjoy Resident Evil 6 today as intended is to ask those people to uninstall the game (only if they originally saw an error message) and reinstall the game. This time they won’t be prompted to download the patch and the game will load.
Please note, however, these people won’t be able to play against disc owners on a temporary basis. We are working with SCEE (Sony) to fix this issue and a patch is imminent to fix the issue
While the fix allows you to play the Resident Evil 6 Campaign, you will not able to play online with others like stated above, but it also denies access to RE.net, the game’s online stat-tracking and reward service. Make sure to stay tuned to ZoKnowsGaming for news on the upcoming fix.
