XCOM Shooter To Become 3rd Person And Digital-Only?

The development of 2K Games’ XCOM shooter has certainly been a turbulent one, with many delays and shifts of focus responsible for the current rough launch date of 2013. In fact the shooter has been beaten to the punch by the XCOM strategy game which was actually announced much later. If a recent survey is to be believed however, the game’s development may yet have some twists in store.

Gaming website Kotaku was sent a few new screenshots of the game along with some snippets of a survey sent out to fans, suggesting that the title has now evolved into a 3rd person shooter. According to one of the questions asked, it is also possible that the game will now become a $30 downloadable title, rather than a full price retail game.

The shots of the game still retain their 60’s setting and retro vibe, but perhaps the general graphics and production values have taken a slight dip in the potential move to a digital-only title. Bearing in mind these screenshots seem fairly late in development, it could be that 2K Marin have already made up their minds about the games future.
