Wii U Will Be Region Locked Confirms Nintendo UK

Share And Comment

So if you are the kind of person who likes to import games then this won’t make you happy. Nintendo UK has confirmed that the Wii U will in fact be region locked. While disappointing, this is no surprise since both the 3DS and the original Wii were region locked as well. The confirmation followed the details being revealed via a translation of Famitsu, a Japanese magazine, which read:Wii U Logo

“What can be played on the Wii U is restricted by a region-lock feature; software not sold in the same region cannot be played.”

Honestly, I have never understood region locking, if people want to play a game that isn’t out where they are and they are willing to pay a premium to have it then they should be allowed too I think. So sorry importers, Nintendo isn’t showing you any love on this one. Now hit up the comments and share your thoughts on Nintendo dropping the region lock hammer on you once again. I wonder how long it takes for someone to find a way around this?
