Fans who were looking forward to picking up NBA Live 13 this October will have to wait a bit longer unfortunately, with publisher Electronic Arts announcing through the EA Sports website that the game won’t launch at the beginning of October as originally planned and has no new release date set as of yet. The NBA live series was scrapped by Electronic Arts back in 2010, as it couldn’t keep up with main rival NBA 2K13 in sales, with the latter still set to land in stores on October 2nd.
What makes the timing of the delay hard to swallow for Electronic Arts is the impending arrival of the NBA season, which starts on October 30th and the perfect time to market the game. Not much of the title has been shown up to this point, absent from E3 and Gamescom, EA has clarified time and time again that the basketball title “deserves its own time”, when that time will be is unknown. What they push out will need to impress however, with many past NBA Live fans jumping ship to NBA 2K.
Maybe the first-look trailer below released alongside the news will shed some light on what type of impact the rejuvenated NBA live series will have on the market.
