Hitman: Sniper Challenge Could Become Standalone Game
Some great things are coming from Hitman: Absolution, the pre-order incentive released for the game ‘Hitman: Sniper Challenge’, was a nice touch from developers IO Interactive and one fans really appreciated. The mini game allowed gamers to snipe enemies creatively and started an online ranking war that kept people coming back for more. IO Interactive never imagined it would become a runaway success however and are now thinking of making a standalone version of the game.
While speaking to MCV, IO’s game director Tore Blystad talked about Hitman: Sniper Challenge being so successful, “People are playing it a lot. I think the No.1 player in the world has clocked in hundreds of hours so far which is completely crazy, right? We’re very happy because that’s the essence of Hitman; it is made to be replayed. The scores have been ridiculous. The best one has 6.5m – how on earth did they do that?”
When asked about making Hitman: Sniper Challenge into a standalone version, Blystad responded, “Who knows? It turned out really well. If we can find a way to make it work then I guess we will.” Promising words from the game director and something that will get fans excited if there is a chance of getting two different experiences from the Hitman universe.
