The one game pretty much everyone wants to see confirmed is Zelda for the Wii U. Although it is pretty much a guarantee that it will happen at some point, gamers are still left hanging waiting for any official word about release date or whether it will look anything like the HD concept demo that wowed everyone during E3 2011.
One website has got hold of some rumors from a ‘source’ and it certainly seems like good news if it can be believed. Firstly the game has apparently been in development since 2010, and will launch in 2014, after the original 2013 release date was dropped as being too close. I guess it does make sense to release the title in 2014 just as the next-gen PlayStation and XBOX will be gaining ground (assuming they release late next year), although you would have to hope that Nintendo has some heavy hitters ready to be released on the Wii U next holiday season as well.
Another piece of information given by the source surrounds the size of the dungeons in the game – around the size of Hyrule Field in Ocarina of Time apparently! In addition to this comes confirmation that the game will be single player only, and that it uses the GamePad functionality to a massive degree. All this information was pretty much likely anyway (aside from the size of the dungeons) but it still keeps up the level of interest in the game. Although it seems unlikely, we are still hoping for some news at the Nintendo preview event later this week. A sizzle reel of Zelda, Metroid, Mario (Galaxy type game obviously) and Starfox would certainly get people enthused about the Wii U launch!
