There’s No T-Mobile iPhone 5 Officially Coming, But The Carrier Still Has A Plan To Carry The Device
It’s has to be very disheartening for T-Mobile to realize that yet again they will be without the iPhone. While some may think that the carrier does not need the device, there are many who think just the opposite. So what will T-Mobile do? Actually, it appears that the nation’s fourth largest carrier has a plan. As a matter of fact, if this latest report is accurate, T-Mobile is actively starting a “PR campaign” for owners of unlocked iPhones, which will include the new iPhone 5, to bring their devices in-store to experience their new “refarmed” HSPA+ network.
TmoNews reports that “we do know that store managers were asked to activate a new microSIM before the end of August, but not told what device it would used with.” Stating further that, “All the intel streaming in seems to point to a “bring your own iPhone” demonstration in store, which lines up perfectly with what T-Mobile’s been saying all along for their refarmed network. We’re also told that these in store displays all align with T-Mobile’s “selling against the iPhone” strategy in the hopes that customers will be enticed by bringing their own device, and pairing it with T-Mobile’s newly launched unlimited data plan.”
So will this be enough to satisfy the iPhone thirst that some T-Mobile customers have? Is it enough to turn away customers from the proposed 4G LTE that iPhone 5 will offer? Is this the best strategy for T-Mobile? Tell us what you think? Can’t we give these guys an “A” for effort?
