The release of Battlefield 3: Armored Kill is fast approaching and like any expansion released for a big game, developer DICE has no problem showing off their wares. With Armored Kill poised to show off the great map design skills DICE have among their ranks, a fly-through video of Alborz Mountains has been released, showing off its beautiful vast snow-covered canyons.
The map was created by senior environment artist Andrew Hamilton, with DICE citing that the landscape and design make it “one of our most beautiful maps ever”. Hamilton talked more deeply about how important terrain is in Armored kill in a post on the Battlefield Blog, he stated, “With Armored Kill having a strong focus on the environment, we wanted to truly hand craft each and every square inch of their kilometres of natural landscape for players to explore – which was no easy feat.”
DICE is looking to push the Frostbite 2.0 engine to the limit and that can be seen in the visually stunning maps rolling out to Battlefield 3 gamers with Armored Kill. The fly-through video of Alborz Mountains can be seen below and will only give gamers more incentive to pick up Armored Kill when its launches.
