Deadpool may be one of the Marvel’s lesser-known characters and his appearances in videogames have been fairly uninspired so far but Transformers developer High Moon Studios are saying that they will do the character justice. Speaking in an interview with AusGamers, High Moon’s game director Sean Miller confirmed that the game will be true to the comics with voices inside the character’s head driving progressions, trash talking other famous Marvel characters like Psylocke and generally enjoying killing bad guys all included.
Miller clarified, “We’re staying true to the comic book roots of the character but also drawing from the things that we feel are successful in other areas; videogames, all of that other stuff. We have, I think, an understanding of what makes Deadpool special and we worked with Marvel to make sure that we do; we’re getting it right.”
It was also revealed that Marvel has faith in High Moon Studios and what it hopes to achieve with their depiction of Deadpool. “They (Marvel) are on board with making this a fun experience, and they’re not afraid of making fun of the things that need to get made fun of. It’s the thing that excites them about Deadpool as a character – that it offers a different spin on the superhero universe”, Miller explained.
Deadpool will launch on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013.
