Of all the third-party releases being touted for release on the Wii U, ZombiU and Rayman Legends from Ubisoft seem to have gathered the most attention. Although the French publisher has said that it is possible ZombiU may make it to other platforms, it has now been confirmed that Rayman Legends will remain an exclusive offering for Nintendo’s new machine.
A trailer for the game shown at Gamescom today confirmed a Holiday 2012 release, and also bore the heading ‘exclusively for Wii U. The game seemed tailored in a lot of ways to the GamePad and also using asynchronous multiplayer as a big selling point – so it would always have been difficult to translate the experience to the more traditional consoles. Regardless, this is another example of how Ubisoft is supporting the Wii U, with ZombiU providing the much sought-after hardcore experience for launch, and Just Dance 4 containing exclusive tracks.
Although Nintendo is unfortunately not putting in an appearance at Gamescom, Ubisoft will be showing of all of their upcoming Wii U titles, and we will be sure to put them to the test and give you guys our first hands-on impressions of the console itself at the same time – look forward to it in the next few days!
