Polyphony Digital Wary Of Announcing A Release Date For Gran Turismo 6
Determining the release date is very difficult for developers to get right because they have to be sure of delivering the finished product by then. If they are late then the fans start to get annoyed to say the least and Kazunori Yamauchi, the Gran Turismo series producer, knows this as he is refusing to confirm a release date for Gran Turismo 6 until he is 100% certain. The game was originally confirmed to be in development back in 2010 but fans have been speculating since then.
In a simple statement at the Gran Turismo 5 Asia Championship 2012, which was held over the weekend, Yamauchi explained to all the press (via Andriasang) in the simplest of statements. He said: If I carelessly say when it will be released, you’ll end up with people saying things like ‘it’s been delayed again’ so I will no longer say at this type of event.” It doesn’t really give fans much to go on but I don’t really think they need much encouragement.
Considering the many delays that Gran Turismo 5 went through, I think it is a good thing that the release date isn’t going to be announced until the game is nearly ready. What do you think about this decision? Please leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
