In what is the most funded Kickstarter Project this year, the Ouya console has taken the crown and with it, $8,596,475 to get the project up and running. The Android powered cube had a Kickstarter goal set at $950,000, which it reached extremely quickly once the backing begun. 63,416 backed the console with their own hard-earned money, hoping to snatch the little piece of hardware for $99 when released in March next year.
When the game does release, we can expect a few launch titles to come along with. Among those announced is “Final Fantasy III“, with Square Enix recently striking a deal to get the RPG classic on the system. Namco Bandai has also said they are in “active discussions” with Ouya “to bring some of the world’s biggest gaming properties to the exciting new open gaming platform”.
It is also confirmed that the guys designing the console have made it so the system will officially support four controllers, call your friends people! Come March 2013, many people will switch from playing games on those small smart phone screens and jump onto those 50 inch flat screen televisions, it’s a revolution.
