DayZ To Be Released As A Standalone Game By Bohemia Interactive
Zombie games are all the rage these days with some good ones, which unfortunately means many poor ones. One of the most popular is DayZ, a mod for Arma II, which has reached over 1 million unique players. This achievement has led to the announcement of an official standalone version of the game according to the creator of the mod, Dean “Rocket” Hall, who broke the news via a post on his Tumblr blog.
Here is what he had to say:
“That’s right, this is actually happening - DayZ will be developed as a standalone game, with me as project lead, by Bohemia Interactive. This is the fairy-tale outcome for a mod that many would have said impossible four months ago. Development and updates of the mod will continue in parallel with the development of the game, so anyone who is playing the mod now will be able to continue to do so. The project will follow the Minecraft development model; fast iterations with the community alpha available for a heavily discounted price.”
He finishes by saying that questions will be answered (hopefully) over the coming weeks, but to keep the busy for now, fans can visit www.dayzgame.com.
Are you pleased that DayZ will be a standalone title? Please leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
