Apple Removes Native YouTube App In iOS 6, Hopefully This Means A Better Standalone App From Google

Apparently, Apple’s licensing deal with Google to have a native YouTube app “has ended”, and the application will not be available for devices running iOS 6, which is scheduled to roll out this fall. Apple states, “users can still use YouTube via the Safari web app.” Ouch!

Now of course Google “is working” on a standalone app, and hopefully it will be considerably better as a third party app than what we currently have. A YouTube spokesperson stated “We are working with Apple to ensure we have the best possible YouTube experience for iOS users.”

We are all rooting for Google to have a YouTube app available in the App Store before or right at the launch of iOS 6, which would leave an almost seamless transition for those who use the current app. As far as users with iOS 5 and older, the native YouTube app will remain.

So what you think about Apple’s decision to ditch YouTube? Is this the best solution for both Apple and Google? Hit up the comments and let us know!
