Not trying to boost some unbelievable statistics, developer Media Molecule has announced through their official website, that over 7 million levels have been created in the LittleBigPlanet franchise. The astonishing number comes from user-generated levels from the original LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2 and the PSP version of the game.
The level making fad isn’t slowing down either. 37,641 levels were created last week alone, which works out as 5377 every day, or 3.7 per minute. That isn’t the only impressive stat to come from the recent milestone however. The guys at Media want to give fans some “hardcore satisfaction” and released a flurry of statistics since the game’s release. For example, if one was to lay every level created end-to-end, it would circle Earth 6 times, or stretch halfway to the moon. Even more telling was the 346 job applications submitted from under-tens asking for a job at the studio.
The 7 million milestone is one Media Molecule can be dearly proud of, as it shows the continued interest in the franchise. With LittleBigPlanet Vita and LittleBigPlanet Karting for Playstation 3 still to release, I doubt it will stay at 7 million levels “created” for that long.
