With Gamescom 2012 nearly upon us, many gaming fans will flock to Cologne, Germany, from countries all around the world to get up close and personal with some big name games expected to be shown at the event. With big titles from Sony rumored to be revealed, along with one or two from Warner Bros., publisher Square Enix decided they want in on the action and are bringing the strongest showings in the company’s history to the European event.

Square Enix promise not to disappoint fans and media alike, with the first exclusive gameplay presentation of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, which is very exciting indeed. They will also bring the first-ever European hands-on demos for Hitman: Absolution, Sleeping Dogs and the highly anticipated reboot Tomb Raider. The aforementioned titles from Square Enix are definitely the pick of the bunch, but not the only titles getting a look at Gamescom. There will also be a range of digital and mobile titles Square Enix will show-off, which include award-winning Quantum Conundrum, action-adventure Gameglobe, Final Fantasy Dimensions and the awesomeness that is the downloadable PC version of Final Fantasy VII.

“Gamescom is the biggest European games show and it’s great to be there with such a strong and diverse lineup of interactive experiences. This year we have a mix of some of the industry’s most identifiable characters and a host of highly original content – it’s going to be a great show,” said Phil Rogers, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Europe. Would you disagree with him?

Gamescom gets under way on August 15 in Cologne, Germany, with more than 200,000 fans expected to attend. Let us know if you will be following the events at Gamescom 2012 in the comment section below.

When not fighting crime, I dabble in the art of online journalism. Alright, maybe it's not as exciting as headbutting everyday felons like a modern Bruce Wayne, but I need something that doesn't involve bludgeoning something. Get my kicks playing on a fat 80gb PS3, really need an upgrade......and a shave.
