Planetside 2 Beta Delayed To Allow Further Polishing And Testing

Share And Comment

Recently Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley, took to Twitter to announced the release date for the Planetside 2 Beta. Smedley had a date of Monday, July 30 or Tuesday, July 31 originally set for its release —- if the game didn’t meet any “unforeseen circumstances”. Well it seems an unforeseen problem has hit Beta plans, delaying its release, but thankfully for solid (well justified) reasons.

Smedley took to Twitter again to announce the delay and said “The team is working like crazy but we need to polish some stuff and test it before we let in a massive # of people”. Fans are obviously annoyed at the delay, but are happy at being apprised of the situation as it develops. Veterans of the first Planetside will get the earliest access to the Beta, with those who obtained codes from PC Magazine or other means getting in shortly after. Those who registered for the Beta from the main website will have to wait a bit longer however.

So when can we expect the arrival of the Planetside 2 Beta? The new release date is scheduled for Friday, August 3 or Monday, August 6 – this could be subject to change however, so keep an eye out on Smedley’s Twitter for any news.

Will you be fighting it out on the Planetside 2 Beta come launch? Let us know in the shiny looking comment section below. Don’t worry it doesn’t bite, apart from that one time.

When not fighting crime, I dabble in the art of online journalism. Alright, maybe it's not as exciting as headbutting everyday felons like a modern Bruce Wayne, but I need something that doesn't involve bludgeoning something. Get my kicks playing on a fat 80gb PS3, really need an upgrade......and a shave.
