If you’re a die-hard Grand Theft Auto fan, prepare to be hit in the face really hard with a big lump of video game nostalgia. PlayStation 2 classic and all-round kick ass game Grand Theft Auto III, will be making its way to the PlayStation Store for your gaming pleasure on July 31st. This means you can download the game digitally and play the 2001 title on your shiny PS3 very soon. The digital version of the game will not be a high-definition re-release, will come with no new enhancements and zero trophy support, so don’t get your hopes up for a brand new gaming experience. The game has already seen success lately in the released iOS and Android versions, giving the same experience seen on the consoles so many years ago.

Where do you want it punk?!

Grand Theft Auto III told the story of Claude who while robbing a bank in the fictional Liberty City, gets back-stabbed by his girlfriend, a perfectly normal daily occurrence of course. He then has to work his way up the criminal ladder to get back at the nasty girlfriend for her betrayal. Along the way you will experience the ups and downs of the criminal underworld, either it be gunfights, car-chases, assassinations – or just roaming the city like a lunatic.

If Grand Theft Auto III doesn’t float your boat, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is also expected to land on the PSN store in the future, we will keep you appraised of that situation. Grand Theft Auto III will be available July 31st on the PlayStation Store for the cost price of $9.99. Make sure to let us know your thoughts on the re-release in the comment section below.

When not fighting crime, I dabble in the art of online journalism. Alright, maybe it's not as exciting as headbutting everyday felons like a modern Bruce Wayne, but I need something that doesn't involve bludgeoning something. Get my kicks playing on a fat 80gb PS3, really need an upgrade......and a shave.
