While we settle scores on the ‘battlefield’ in the two already released expansion packs for Battlefield 3, we look to the future of the shooters DLC schedule. With lots of information already released on upcoming expansion ‘Armored Kill‘, much still was not known about the second-to-last DLC “Aftermath”. That changed recently however, with the official Battlefield website giving us some juicy details about the mysterious expansion.
We still have a long way to go until Aftermath rolls out in December this year, so what can we expect from skillful developer DICE? Aftermath will add four new maps set in post-earthquake Tehran, “continuing the struggle for supremacy and survival amongst the devastation.” There will also be a brand new game mode to master, along with additional assignments to conquer.
For the battlefield itself, new vehicles for Aftermath will come in the “form of heavily modified troop transports and civilian vehicles specially adapted to deliver deadly force to the enemy.” Although the official website doesn’t mention anything about new weapons for Aftermath, the Battlefield Twitter page said, “New weapons will come with Aftermath.”
With the devastation of earthquakes ravaging the surrounding areas, the expansion will no doubt push the Frostbite 2.0 engine to the limit. If you want early access to all the expansion packs still to be released for Battlefield 3, you can sign up to Battlefield Premium for $49.99 or 4000 MSP. No word on an actual date or price for non-premium members, but expect it to price around the same as previously released expansions.
