Of all the PlayStation characters, Kratos is not the one you would most like to meet up with in a dark alley when he’s drunk or pissed. Nathan Drake you could have a beer with, Cole from inFamous would show you some cool powers on top of a skyscraper and Ratchet and Clank would just get on your nerves. Kratos though, would scare the living crap out of you, that’s if you lived long enough. In the forthcoming God of War: Ascension however, the developers are keen on making the character slightly more likeable.
The director of the game, Todd Pappy told Game Informer that; “With the way that God of War III ended, Kratos, was…um…an a**hole, to say the least. I think some people connected with him, but it was more of an, “I’ve been through this journey with him from the start.” And he wasn’t a very likable character, versus God of War 1 – he was still somewhat ruthless, but there was a side to him that you could somewhat relate to. And that was something that I wanted to get across. I felt the best way to do that was going more for a prequel.”
Pappy also confirmed that the Furies are the main bad guys in the game and detailed a couple of the new powers, including the Life Cycle power which allows Kratos to rewind time. We are hoping that God of War: Ascension will be playable at Gamescom in just a few short weeks, at which time we will be able to bring you guys an in-depth preview, nice guy Kratos and all.
