Assassin’s Creed III To Use ‘Season Pass’ DLC Model
With Assassin’s Creed III getting ever closer to its highly anticipated release this October, many are looking to the future of the game post release and what DLC offerings developer Ubisoft will push out. According to a letter forwarded to the guys at Kotaku, a detailed DLC plan for Assassin’s Creed III is on the cards, including a “season pass” DLC model.
The letter was addressed to gaming retailer GameStop, thanking them for reaching the pre-order goals set by the developer. It seems all the DLC created for this year’s outing will be handled by a “complementary development team” that Ubisoft is in the process of creating and promises post-launch episodic content. This team will “set the bar for quality DLC in our industry”, so watch out for crisp content.
The letter also talks about the introduction of “Season Passes” in Assassin’s Creed III, the letter stated, “We know you’re familiar with the ‘Season Pass’ concept and, beginning shortly, we’ll start to take pre-orders of our very own. We’d love your continued assistance in informing pre-order customers that a better value is available for those who pre-order Assassin’s Creed with the Season Pass”.
The letter might not be legit, so take it with a complementary pinch of salt. However it will be interesting to see what direction Ubisoft takes their multiplayer model with Assassin’s Creed III, guess we will just have to wait and see when Assassin’s Creed III lands PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 31.
