Those hoping to get a glimpse of the mysterious yet spectacular Grand Theft Auto V at this year’s Gamescom in Cologne, Germany will be more than disappointed with news that the game is an expected no-show at the upcoming gaming event. Grand Theft Auto V was rumored to show the world some juicy details after footage showed up in a recent Gamescom trailer, however this isn’t the case.
Apparently Grand Theft Auto V was first rumored to be present at the event after a snippet of footage from the Rockstar game was included in a trailer released for Gamescom. It was later revealed that the footage was included “in error” and prompted Franko Fischer, communications manager for this year’s Gamescom’s to say, “Rockstar Games is not scheduled and has never been scheduled to exhibit at Gamescom 2012.” He also apologized for any confusion raised, with the Grand Theft Auto V footage now been removed from the trailer.
Watch Dogs is also another big title not packing its suitcase for Germany. Ubisoft may have saddened fans with the news of the games exclusion, but have turned dismay into excitement, with them bringing Assassins Creed III and Far Cry 3 to show at the event, so some big titles will be shown over the course of the week.
The absence of Grand Theft Auto V might throw the spanner in the works for some gaming fans, who haven’t seen anything related to the game since the trailer release back in November. Gamescom will begin on August 15 and will continue throughout the week, if you have any thoughts or views about the event, let us know in the comment section below.
