If you thought it was confusing enough that the sport played over two halves of 45 minutes involving kicking a ball has two names (seriously though, it is Football), then prepare to introduce a new word into your sporting dictionary – Foosball.
Originally a German word for the beautiful game itself, the term has come to mean table football more recently. In other words that game they have in some bars where you control your players by spinning a pole that they are attached to. Why am I telling you all this? I’m glad you asked, because a digital version of the game is heading to both PS3 and Vita next week courtesy of Grip Games.
Launching on July 24th, Foosball will cost $7.99 (£5.99/€6.99) in the PlayStation Store and be discounted to $5.99 with a PlayStation Plus discount. It is one of those marvelous titles that gives you both the PS3 and Vita versions for the cost of one game, and will feature PlayStation Move compatibility and online multiplayer. I’m not entirely sure how well twirling a metal pole will translate to a Dual Shock, but I guess we will find out soon! There will also be a demo available if you don’t fancy shelling out on the full game until you have tried it out.
