When you hear the name Sir Paul McCartney, many things come to mind. Playing his part with ‘The Beatles’, probably the most successful band ever to grace planet Earth, as well as selling out tours worldwide as a solo act for decades, it’s safe to say he knows his way around music. So you can imagine that former Halo developer ‘Bungie’ was delighted when the music icon agreed to help write the music for their upcoming project in development for Activision.
The news of the collaboration broke over Twitter where McCartney said, “I’m really excited to be working on writing music with Bungie, the studio that made Halo,” along with a picture (seen above) of himself with Bungie composer Marty O’Donnell talking music. Bungie finished up developing duties with popular first-person shooter Halo recently, handing the reins over to developer 343 Industries, freeing up time to work on a new project to be released under Activision.
According to Bungiepedia, the project codenamed Destiny will be, “a series of at least four massively multiplayer online sci-fantasy action shooter titles” and will including four games and four downloadable expansion packs covering eight years. It seems Bungie will be looking to recreate the hype and legacy they did with the Halo franchise and its possible with Activision on board making sure it will have a strong marketing campaign. Having McCartney compose music for the title ain’t a bad marketing strategy either, so make sure to keep an eye out for more details when they surface.
