New IP’s are becoming increasingly rare in a world where video games cost multiple millions to produce and a return on an investment becomes more and more difficult. Mobile games, as an increasingly popular option, provide a cheaper way for developers to put content out there and make some money, while producing games for consoles is becoming more and more limited to series like Call of Duty, Battlefield and Madden.
Bearing that in mind, it is always nice to hear that an entirely new game is on the way, particularly one which could end up inspiring future titles and creating its own series. One such title is upcoming horror themed shooter Devil’s Third, by Valhalla Game Studios.
The studios’ CEO Satoshi Kanemetsu has been discussing Devil’s Third on the their official website, and has mentioned that the game will be heading to a “wide range of digital devices” as well as consoles and PC when it launches next year.
We aren’t entirely sure whether Kanemetsu means mobiles or handheld games consoles (or both?), but he also says that; “We are also looking beyond the boundaries of video games and plan to work with other various forms of media, including manga, novels, animation and film, to create a blockbuster franchise.”
All in all, it certainly sounds that Kanemetsu is hoping that Devil’s Third will become a big name in the months to come. What do you think?
