God Of War: Ascension Multiplayer ‘Boss’ Unveiled … Polyphemus [Video]

The hype machine is starting early for God of War: Ascension, and understandably the majority of the focus is on the, new to the series, multi-player mode. In an interview on the official PlayStation Blog, the lead character concept artist of the game has shared some details on the massive one-eyed horned Titan seen on the game trailers, now known to be named Polyphemus.

Featuring only in the multiplayer arena, Polyphemus is said to be the son of Poseidon (wow – that must have been a hell of a birth!) and can only be defeated using the Spear of Olympus, which you gain through beating your multiplayer foes.

Polyphemus originally started life as a giant Cyclops character, before being augmented with elephant-inspired skin and tusks, and an extreme body piercing fetish. The creature has massive piercings separating his arms, while also holding him down in the games desert multiplayer location.

The character has been created with all the care and attention that a boss fight would receive only in a completely multi-player environment. I’m currently playing through all of the God of War games again on PS3 in anticipation of this release, and I have to say I’m pretty excited for this game and to battle this behemoth online.
