Nintendo Download: July 5, 2012

It’s time for another edition of Nintendo Download, and this week is a force to reckoned with. This week, we get two NES games (as part of the 3DS eShop’s “8-bit Summer” series, a demo for a game Diablo fans should look out for, and plenty more.

On the NES front, The Legend of Zelda and NES Open Tournament Golf release this week for $4.99. Both were released as part of the Ambassador promotion for early 3DS adopters, and the latter is a Mario Golf game long before Camelot got involved. And if you don’t know what The Legend of Zelda is, I have no idea why you’re on a video game website.

A Heroes of Ruin demo is also out this week for a price of free. I haven’t played the actual eShop demo, but my experience with the title at PAX East led me to believe that this is a really creative twist on gameplay found in the Diablo series, and Square Enix making it automatically makes it worthwhile to keep your eye on.

As part of Nintendo’s “Game of the Weekend” program, Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword is available at a reduced price point of $4.99 until 9 P.M. on July 8. From what I hear, the game is supposed to focus on precision sword-fighting with a little hint of Punch-Out!! to boot.

Lastly, there are a bunch of other games for various platforms. Exclusively on 3DS this week, we have Family Tennis 3D and Akari by Nikoli. On DSiWare, we got Topoloco and 3,2,1… WordsUp!. Finally, on Wii, there is Let’s Create! Pottery for WiiWare and 2020 SUPER BASEBALL on Virtual Console.

Anything strike your fancy this week, gang?
