Finally, the news that every Final Fantasy fanboy has been dreaming of – a FFVII remake is finally happening. Before you all get too excited however, the game wont be a multi-million ground-up remake, or even an HD digital remake on PSN or XBOX Live, instead it is to be released exclusively through the PC Square Enix store, and will be largely untouched from the original.
One thing the title will offer however is 36 achievements, although whether they will link in with Steam is currently unknown. Final Fantasy VII on PC will also offer cloud saves (no pun intended we hope?) and a ‘character booster’ option to make certain parts of the game easier to play.
If you were interested in the specs required to play the game, here they are:
• Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 (32/64-bit)
• 2 GHz Processor or faster
• 1 GB RAM
• DirectX 9-compatible graphic card
As you can see it wont tax your thousand-buck gaming rig too much, so there really isn’t much reason not to get the game on PC when it launches later this year. Wouldn’t you prefer a ‘real’ remake though? Although the chances of it happening get slimmer every year and Square Enix have basically said they are more interested in producing new games,we still wait in hope.
