iPad Mini Launch Coming Soon Says WSJ

And so the plot thickens, after reports broke yesterday that Apple was prepping a smaller and perhaps most importantly cheaper iPad we are now hearing that Apple’s Asian suppliers are planning to begin mass production of the “iPad mini” in September. The new smaller iPad will feature a display that measure less than 8 inches diagonally and both LG Display and AU Optronics are said to be among Apple’s suppliers for the new tablet.

As of right now this is all speculation but it is believed that Apple’s new smaller iPad will retail between for  between $249 and $299 when it launches later this year. If mass production does ramp up in September then that means that Apple would probably be looking at a holiday release, can you say #1 Christmas gift of the year?
