The release of DLC for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was a “mistake”, says Konami production head Dave Cox in an interview with Gameranx. Apparently, the developers were pressured by senior management because of its success, even though there were no plans to do so originally.
“The problem was that the game’s success caught everyone by surprise. It caught senior management by surprise and they wanted us to do DLC,” Cox told the website. “We never planned to do DLC, so we ended up doing DLC after the fact and in hindsight that was a mistake. It was rushed. We had to rush it to market.”
You guys should check out the full interview though, it’s really good. I personally thought it was solid DLC onto a solid game, but it is really interesting to see what’s happening behind the curtain now and again.
