After what seems like a lifetime for Left 4 Dead 2 gamer’s, developer Valve has finally given a firm release date for upcoming DLC ‘Cold Stream’. The DLC pack will hit digital shelves on July 24th and will include a new community-made campaign. Additionally, as a special treat to long time fans of the game, newer versions of classic levels Blood Harvest, Death Toll, Crash Course and Dead Air will also be included.
The DLC has already seen action on the PC platform, with a public beta available to players for testing and data collection on any issues the DLC brings up, which means the Xbox release will be the first fully polished version of the content. Along with the promised classic maps, Valve also announced through the L4D Blog that more information will be made in the coming weeks before launch, and revealed the changes in mutation that will get L4D fans excited.
There are some other surprises and details we will give you later but for now we just want to confirm an often requested feature. With the update going out at the same time (also for the PC), all of the mutations will be available at all times. This will allow players to choose to match into games playing Taannkk!, Gib Fest, or even a user-created mutation like Confogl.
Many might have packed up shop and stopped playing Left 4 Dead 2, so Valve hopes this will get interest back in the survival horror – one melee attack at a time. Left 4 Dead 2 ‘Cold Stream’ will be available for download for on Xbox 360, Mac and PC from July 24 onwards. Let us know in the comment section if Cold Stream will encourage you to start playing Left 4 Dead 2 again, that’s if you stopped of course!
