Sequel Already In The Works For Tomb Raider?
Pity poor Tomb Raider. Once the poster child for the entire PlayStation generation, lately both the series and its heroine have fallen on tough times. Despite weathering reboot after reboot the series has never retained its former glory, something that Crystal Dynamics wants to address in their forthcoming offering.
Impressing many that saw it during E3, the new game appears to blend an Uncharted type of gameplay and narrative with some bow and arrow shooting that looks mighty fun. Oh, and Lara Croft is finally sexy again, something that I am mentioning purely for the benefit of full professional journalism. The idea of the game being a prequel to the other titles is also pretty interesting.
Certainly the brand director of Crystal Dynamics, Karl Stewart, believes that a new era is dawning for Lara Croft, as he hinted in an interview with VideoGamer.com that a sequel was already in the works. He told them: “I have to be careful because I know exactly where she is going. You have to look at the future, you have to look at where…It’s not just one game.
Stewart wouldn’t say any more, but at least it seems that this reboot of the series may finally be the one we have been waiting for. Tomb Raider launches in March next year, for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
