Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad drops onto PlayStation Network tomorrow according to a post on the Official PlayStation Blog. The game is an off-road arcade-style racer and is developed by 2XL Games who have a very good history with racing games with some of their lead programmers and artists having worked on the MX vs. ATV series. The game requires mastering the driving physics and then using that to find the fastest route round the track.
The career mode centers on Jeremy’s bid for the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series championship, and you can pick your rig from a large range with the opportunity to upgrade as you progress in the game. Some of the upgrades allow you to alter the handling, top speed, acceleration and braking of your rig so you can modify it to your racing style. The environments feature dynamic obstacles such as breakable fences, rockslides, and falling trees amongst other things so it is safe to say that no two races are every really going to be the same.
Fans of multiplayer racing will be pleased to know that there is a multiplayer mode featured in the game. It allows you to race with up to eight racers online and then track your progress with real-time stats and a leaderboard system. Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad hits the PSN on June 26th (tomorrow) and will cost $9.99 so check it out if you want to play a fun (and cheap) off-road racer.
