During this years E3 conference, Sony announced Black Ops Declassified would be making its way to the ever-expanding PlayStation Vita library. Though details for Black Ops Declassified were scarce at the time of announcement, Activision has revealed some very initial details about the upcoming shooter.
The description of the game by the publisher gives us some interesting facts about the pint-sized shooter. The game will have a brand new campaign set up of co-operative Special Ops missions, with it saying, “Before the future could be won, history had to be written.” This suggests the game is set earlier to the futuristic setting of Black Ops 2, maybe during the cold war. An official game description provided by Activision read:
Exposing that story exclusively on PlayStation Vita, Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified explores original fiction in the Call of Duty Black Ops universe with an all-new campaign of Special Ops missions. Optimized for gamers on-the-go, Call of Duty Black Ops: Declassified delivers the most intense handheld Call of Duty experience to date, including both Special Ops Story mode and Multiplayer combat tailored for the PS Vita.
We have yet to see any official gameplay or information on multiplayer features, we don’t even know who’s developing the game or when it releases. We can take a guess and say it will launch around the same time as Black Ops 2, maybe getting those few extra Vita sales from the hype of its big brother’s console release. Even if it is a portable friendly title that doesn’t turn many heads, Black Ops Declassified is what the Vita needs, with Assassins Creed Liberation also making its way to the Vita, Activision want to make sure they have feet set firmly down in every possible platform.
