Sonic Adventure 2 appears to be heading for an October release on the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network if some screenshots posted on NeoGAF by a user called Kokonoe are to be believed. A listing for the game was briefly spotted on Xbox.com earlier today and was listed for release on October 3rd. The original game was hugely popular, winning a few ‘Best of 2001’ awards and is considered one of the best ever Dreamcast games.

Part of the listing that was briefly available on Xbox.com

According to one screenshot (shown above), the game promises offline multiplayer, content downloads and leaderboards. Another screenshot shows a prompt for the DualShock’s circle button that all but confirms a PS3 version of the game is due. The game will be receiving a full HD upgrade and based on the high quality of the screenshots it looks like that is going to turn out well. The official listing which as since been removed said:

In the fight between heroes and villains, will you choose to save the world or conquer it? The hunt for the Chaos Emeralds is on and battle lines have been drawn between Hero and Dark. Experience two unique adventures featuring both long-time heroes and new and returning villains as they battle for the fate of the world!

Sonic Adventure 2 makes its return on Xbox Live Arcade with a full cast of playable heroes and villains, exciting two-player competitive modes, Chao Gardens, and more than 30 action-packed stages, all remastered in HD!

No price is known as of yet but when Sonic Adventure was re-relased on XBLA to coincide with the Dreamcast’s 11th birthday, it cost 800 Microsoft points so that could be an indicator about how much Sonic Adventure 2 would be. I'm a big gaming fan who has been playing games since ever since Pokemon Yellow was released in the year 2000. I'm just glad that there are decent rugby games on the PS3 now after years of nothing. I need another Uncharted game...NOW!!!!!
