Dead Space 3 was impressive when it was shown at E3 in Los Angeles last week with the news that it was to appear on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in addition to PC, being taken as a given but would it join the game library of Nintendo’s new console, the Wii U? Well, the answer is a resounding “no” according to the series’ producer, Steve Papoutis after he was asked about the possibility of it happening by a fan on Twitter according to NintendoWorldReport.
To be precise he said that Dead Space 3 for the Wii U was “not currently in the plan”. This rules it out for now; it doesn’t mean that the game will never ever appear on the console. It is disappointing because the Wii U is on a technical par with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 so you think they would maximize their playing audience by releasing on all three consoles at the same time.
It will probably appear a while after the release of the game on the other consoles when interest in it has died down a bit because everyone has already played it like they have with Batman: Arkham City and Mass Effect 3. I’m sure EA and Visceral Games have a reason why the game isn’t showing on the Wii U but I can’t help but feel that they are missing an opportunity here.
Dead Space 3 will drop for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC in February 2013.
