The next patch for Diablo 3, the long anticipated action/fantasy RPG that was released 12 years after the previous game in the series’, is due to arrive later this month and it is said to address a lot of the issues that players had been experiencing with the game. The Diablo 3 senior technical game designer Wyatt Chang has explained the full details of the patch on the Battle.Net blog. The changes include alterations to the Inferno difficulty and changes to how and when items appear.
First up is the news that the best items in the game will drop from many more places and not just Act 4 on Inferno. The aim of this is to make a “wider variety of playstyles viable” according to the blog on Battle.Net. The alterations to the Inferno difficulty see the monsters in Acts 2, 3, and 4 having their health and damage lowered in order to “smooth the difficulty ramp out a bit”.
Speaking about the slight changes made to the Inferno difficulty, Cheng says, “Difficulty certainly ties into itemization, encounter and enemy tuning, and class balance, and all of these things together are going to paint a more reasonable difficulty curve as you hit Inferno in 1.0.3”.
