One of the games we were really looking forward to hearing more about was the spiritual sequel to PS2 classics Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian. Pre-E3 rumors stated that we probably wouldn’t hear anything during the show however and unfortunately they turned out to be correct.
Any fears that the game had been shelved can be discounted however, as Sony’s President of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed to website Game Informer that the title is still under development in Japan.
At the D.I.C.E conference earlier this year Yoshida clarified that the game was being re-worked after suffering some technical issues, however he told Game Informer: “There are some technical issues being addressed. There’s not much to show what it looks like. This period of time we are unable to give an update, but the game is still in development.”
Maybe we will have something to see on The Last Guardian at Gamescom in August or Tokyo Game Show in September? Here’s hoping. Are there are any other no-shows that you were looking forward to seeing?
