Amongst the most impressive new offerings that were few and far between at E3 this year was a demo constructed using a high-end PC showing off a new Star Wars title from LucasArts, Star Wars: 1313.
The game is described as being a mature cover shooter, highlighting the dark and seedy part of the Star Wars universe as you control a bounty hunter who is tasked with cleaning out the underworld of the planet Coruscant, situated on level 1313. Early indications suggest that if you imagine Gears of War crossed with Uncharted in the Star Wars universe you wont be too far off the mark. Sounds awesome.
LucasArts have described the game by saying: “Level 1313 is a dark, vast subterranean metropolis beneath the surface of the planet Coruscant where the criminal underworld thrives. A third person action adventure game, players will take on the role of a lethal bounty hunter navigating through this ruthless world in a high-octane thrill ride. Players will experience awe-inspiring and action-packed cinematic sequences, constantly staying engaged through the threat, pressure and tension of this criminal underworld.”
It all sounds and looks amazing as the clip from Spike TV shows. It will be a shame though if the title ends up being compromised graphically to fit the 360 and PS3, perhaps if the release drifts into the tail end of 2013 it will be created instead for the next-gen of consoles in addition to PC. The game is being developed by the cream of ILM, Skywalker Sound and the full team at LucasArts. Expect many more details as they year progresses.
