Those who spend more time on their phones than on their consoles will be happy to hear that third-party hardware manufacture HTC has joined the PlayStation Mobile certification program. The announcement made at E3 means all those PlayStation fans will soon be able to play games like Gran Turismo and Crash Bandicoot on the HTC Android smartphones and tablets.
The Playstation Mobile certification program (formerly known as Playstation Suite), will allow HTC to create a line of Playstation-certified Android phones and give the gamers the chance to download titles straight from the Playstation Store, sounds nifty right?
Touch-screen devices will have virtual buttons on their screens and those who have Xperia Play smartphones will use the basic traditional controls, why change what isn’t broke? Sony is looking to build an ecosystem for developers and get them more interested in the Playstation Mobile Software Development Kit, to give people more of a variety of games. With many developers promising such content, the partnership is off to a good start.
Kouji Kodera, Chief Product Officer at HTC is more than excited about the new partnership between Sony and HTC and stated:
HTC is focused on delivering innovative mobile experiences for people everywhere and SCE’s immersive world of gaming will bring compelling entertainment to HTC One customers across the globe.
In an industry where mobile games are starting to make noise, Sony is playing it smart focusing their attention on the growing market. With HTC being one of the big smartphone companies, Sony will look to accelerate the process and get top PlayStation titles in the hands of Smartphone users as soon as possible.
